Yard Art

I thought I would take the summer off from creating, since it requires me to be indoors most of the time while I am doing it.  But, the weather hasn't been the best, so I have had time to create some yard art. Yeah!!!
Front Door Greeting
I desperately needed a fun, summer door greeting.  I found this on the clearance rack at Michael's for a couple dollars.  I painted the wooden part with 'Welcome Friends!' and added the beaded flower(also found on the clearance rack).  I also painted the yellow dots on the flower.  Pretty simple, but I liked it.
Glass fused flower - very fun & whimsical!!
This is my favorite thing I have made all year.  I saw one of these on Pinterest and decided to try it.  It was surprisingly simple.  I cut the glass pieces out and took them to 'The Glass Fuser' to have fused.  I found this colored wire at a local bead store.  The hardest part of the whole project was getting the wire wrapped around it.  I just love it!!
Birdhouse - any bird would love to live here.
I found this birdhouse unfinished at a garage sale.  I love birdhouses, so I said to myself "I better get this, sooner or later I will need another project".  I painted it in some of my favorite colors, added some wire and beads to hang it with and now I have a cute birdhouse hanging in my yard.
Rock Path with Brick Border
I actually did this path last summer, but I thought it was worth sharing.  I felt like I was creating an art piece.  I was able to do this pretty economically.  The bricks were purchased on craigs list, I collected the rocks for the main part of the path and the little ones to fill in with at the river (I know, you aren't supposed to do that, but I did-oops!), and I purchased a few bags of sand.  Gregg dug out the area for me - I think that is the worst part.  I got to do the fun part.  I poured about an inch of sand and randomly placed the bricks - notice they are placed in both directions.  I placed the large rocks and made sure they were level with the bricks.  There are many heart rocks thru out the path.  I then filled in with small pebbles.  The whole path cost less than $100.
Whimsical bird hotel

I have been wanting a large birdhouse for years, but they are always so expensive I could never get myself to buy one.  Well, I found this unfinished at Michael's for $12.50.  I went a little crazy painting it.  I thought I might have overdone it a bit, but when it was all finished I looked at it and thought "it needs something else'.  So, I painted the little wooden star that I already had and glued it to the chimney.  The sides have polka dots too.  Pretty crazy huh!
